Amanda Miller Robbins Obituary

On June 4, 1930, a baby girl was born to William Miller and Odessa Miller, in Bay City, Texas, whom they named Amada Lee Miller. She was the youngest of her three siblings, Laverne Carter, Ernestine Laddie and Thurman Miller. All of whom are deceased. Although Amanda gave birth to one child, her siblings gave birth to a number of children.

Amanda was the granddaughter of John and Birdie Tolson, who were co-founders of Mother Zion Missionary Baptist Church.  She was baptized at an early age by Rev. C. H. Brown.  She grew up in Bay City and attended public school at Hilliard High. After graduating high school she furthered her education at Missouri Beauty School.

Amanda lived a great deal of her life as the wife of AB Robbins a career soldier. With him she traveled from one military Post to another. Therefore, her travels with AB exposed Mama to many States in America and overseas.

She loved to read. What she did not experience in her travels, she read about it in her books. Her reading discipline created a balance in her life.

Amanda leaves her most precious memories to her son, Veron Benton (Beverly);  two grandsons, Mark Allen and Rudy Allen; one granddaughter, Kristi Castolow; several nieces and nephews: Craig Miller, Odessa Stanford, Talma Jean O’Neil, Robert Stanford, Herbert Stanford, Kennetha Day and Jerome Stanford; other survivors, AB Robbins, Gerald Brown, Larnell Hawkins, Jr., Larry Randon, Phillip Randon, Eugene Dennard, LaJuan Law, Everette Franklin, Kendre Perry, Monica Goodie, and Scarlet Stredic; and a host of other, relatives and friends.
